The Inside Gig provides a playbook for companies to master business disruptions rather than be run over by them. The war for talent has always focused on acquiring the best, whether through the traditional hiring of full-time employees or the current reliance on the gig economy of contracting outside freelancers. In the near future, the companies that will win in the marketplace will be experts at deploying the skills they already have inside their firms. Artificial intelligence is eliminating jobs faster than available talent can learn new skills, increasing the critical need to reimagine and re-skill internal workforces. Compounding this evolution is the emergence of new skill domains that have created an imbalance of supply versus demand. Attempting to acquire crucial skills from on-demand external platforms won’t suffice due to a lack of ample supply.

By identifying the hidden skills, capabilities, and aspirations of their employees, organizations can rapidly and cost-effectively match the right talent to solve real-time business challenges. At the same time they can tap into optional effort from a highly engaged workforce by allowing employees to work on projects that best match their skills and interests. The future is about connecting people with opportunities for micro-learning and personal growth while giving them the ability to fully leverage their entire set of capabilities. Successfully utilizing The Inside Gig will enable employees to achieve more fulfilling careers and allow companies to maximize investment in their talent, compete effectively in the marketplace, and thrive in the business world.

The book will be available for sale in bookstores across North America and via online retailers on April 7, 2020.
